Hi there. I have OA in my hips, not hands, but here are a couple links to some threads where people talked about hand arthritis:

reddit.com/r/Osteoarthritis...

reddit.com/r/Thritis/commen... - This one's more focused on elbow, but they do talk about pain relief and have some suggestions.

They also suggest compression gloves and hot packs.

Thanks for the links. I’ve got in my knees as well but my hands seem to be worse at min. I’ve got packs to put in micovave. It’s short help but I’ve hand splints which I use but hands sweat when you wear too long lol.

I'm seeing occupational therapist next week.

My thumb's in particular are a problem..

Pain killers not really much help, it's the small subtle movements that stop me in my tracks.... 😰

Hi I’ve already seen mine she give me splints for my hands and finger splints before I was told it was Oa because my little fingers are starting to deform. I’m also on pain killers along side my Dmards but I don’t think it makes much difference but gotta wait til see the doctor since my nurse said she was unsure what he wants me to try. I’ve just sent off for tiger balm ppl say that helps. So here’s hoping lol

My hands are very painful! And they make it hard to do everyday tasks. I take dmards and use heat socks (rice in a sock) to put in the microwave, use it for knees and neck and back as well. Another good thing for arthrictic hands is to soak them in paraffin wax, it feels wonderful and makes your hands very soft.😊 it is very soothing. You could purchase online or at your pharmacy. It is a machine that heats the wax and you dip your hands in and let it hardened and then peel away. You won't regret the purchase. Prayers for pain relief for us all😊

Yes you don’t realise how much you need your hands until you get Oa in them. I struggle to even hold a bag. But I have noticed how inpatient ppl are when you paying for stuff. I’m now at stage where I say sorry got arthritis in my hands. I got some tiger balm that works for short periods too 🙂

Hi there. I have OA in my knee, back and hands. TKR right knee. Played tennis all my life. Had very tough, long recovery. My right thumb joint suddenly had its first horrible flare up a month ago. Barely do anything with right hand. You might try breathable gel/wrist gloves. There are many types of gloves for arthritic hands. Look at Amazon. Also used copper compression gloves which my RHeumatologist did not believe in...but which helped me. You can also purchase heated arthritis therapy glove or mitten. Six months ago I started taking a supplement which contains folate, vitamin B 12 and curcuminoid turmerone complex 500 mg. Given to me by my Rheumatologist to try. It has helped my knees tremendously. Good luck!

My Ot give me gloves they help with my wrists but not my fingers. Wish mine was caused by tennis 🎾 mine are from working in a well known sandwich shop for 10 + years lol

I’ve just read it. I do have few things in the list too. I’m not sure what my vit d levels are will have to check to see if it’s on my blood test results. I did read that because ppl don’t go out and always wear high numbers in sun cream. That’s also got something to do with it. I do wear factory 50. Because I burn easy plus with my Dmards. So guess we are in a no win way.

Thanks for your reply. But without sounding stupid how do you get your lab results if. It’s being done by hospital or my Gp. I do have access to my tests etc online my doctors sort that out for me instead of having to keep ringing them and having to explain myself every time.
