Hello Mykoes,
There are non-medical therapies that you could try such as walking, stretching and weight training (safely) that can lower pain with continued use. Start low and slow with all exercise. A friend of mine mentioned how she walked 3 times a week for a few months. Once it hit summer she stopped because of the heat and her knee pain came right back. Give it a try and talk to your doctor about other treatment and pain management options.
