Insulin - produced by pancreas - key hormone in blood sugar regulation
Ghrelin - hormones that increase appetite ( to attune to true natural appetite - knowing when nourishment is needed)
Leptin - satiety hormone- we know then we are full. Satiated
In obesity, leptin resistance can develop meaning a need to eat often without feeling full. leading to more fat tissue laying down. Often closely related to healthy blood sugar balancing (insulin sensitivity).

Love the references to ghrelin and leptin - two important hormones that should be discussed more, but haven't really become "mainstream." Both of these are considered "hunger hormones."
Ghrelin is a hormone that increases appetite. Leptin is a hormone with the opposite role: it decreases appetite. A person interested in losing weight wants to lower ghrelin levels and increase leptin levels. Studies show that protein does just that. So a good, natural way to curb your appetite is to eat more protein.
