My colleague Janey Lee Grace, a prominent advocate of natural health and a media and PR expert, is also now a Tedx speaker. The work she is now launching around going sober is really interesting and poses serious questions around the social and cultural acceptability of large quantities of alcohol.

I know for myself I feel more vital, clearer and lighter in my mind as well as being far more productive. And I hardly drink at all these days! I recall my younger days with punishing hangovers and have no wish to pursue that! Urgh! A waste.

Check out her Tedx talk Sobriety Rocks! Who knew! here:

I also overindulged in my younger years and couldn’t imagine not drinking and going to the bars. Lol! Although it was fun at the time, I think it led to many of my health problems as I now know I was both gluten intolerant and have intolerances to grapes so no wonder my hangovers were horrible. I don’t drink at all now as even a little alcohol makes me feel off and it’s not good for my CKD. The more I learn about nutrition, the more I realize how important it is to respect what we put into our bodies and that each of us has different needs and tolerance levels.

Thank you for sharing. I too feel so much better without alcohol. We grow up as we age (hopefully) so don't give yourself a hard time about the past - it is the NOW that matters so celebrate and acknowledge how far you have come through your own self enquiry. Well done! The body is always changing so of course what we eat, how we sleep, how we think - all matters. So each day we are empowered to make choices that truly serve us.
