Society would collapse. The love of my life has no idea that I've been picking up things since September. He had a bold idea in August that he would give me £10 per week that I could put away for Christmas (my suggestion). I never received a penny! We've been eating a lot of lentils: lentil & peanut bake, lentil curry, lentil & bacon soup. He's not noticed yet! I've been trawling the internet for bargains.

How wonderful are we women? Especially with Christmas in mind....
Andrea,I've been saving the housekeeping money my two have been giving me,so i've got all my presents wrapped and taken down to the rellies. Posted all the cards friday, just got to finish of writing the hand delivered ones.
You'd be surprised what you can get early in the season. I've been buying ever since rememberence week. So like you i'm sorted. xxx
We each have our strengths....I won't have a word said against my OH (except by me!), especially as this year he'll have to do most of the driving, and quite a bit of the cooking. He may not be able to multi-task, or read instructions to any piece of equipment, and does have a tendency to fall asleep after a couple of drinks - but then he is very good at making tea so can't be all bad. Yes I agree, we women are pretty fantastic but I think our other halves deserve a mention as well. Mine takes out the rubbish, does the pickled onions, walks the dogs when I don't feel well and gives out heat like a furnace so at night I am lovely and warm and don't need a hot water bottle. He also gets all the drinks in at Lavendar Castle and looks after our guests whilst I get on with cooking etc. He does have a distressing tendency to fall asleep after a couple of drinks (like Polly's OH) and one Xmas I took a lovely photo of him, my father and my son all fast asleep in their chairs. Son was on the sofa face down in the cushions with his btm in the air.
He also sweeps up all the leaves if the gardener hasn't done it, strings up the Xmas lights on the front of the castle and round the tree. Has endless patience when it comes to finding the one bulb out of hundreds which has blown on the Xmas tree. Like Polly's OH mine can't read even the simplest of instructions without getting into a hopeless muddle and although we have lived here for many years, he still doesn't know where half the things go in the kitchen! But I wouldn't change him for the worlds although he drives me mad sometimes.
Have bought all my presents now - having been buying in bits and pieces since early November but next year I am determined to buy something throughout the year and spread the cost out a bit.
Just waiting for the children's presents to be delivered - I ordered them from Argos and they should be here on Tuesday. Then all the wrapping up starts.
