Hi Tutlebees, If you are really worried then you should see a GP or contact your RA team. The current strain of cold virus appears to be particularly tenacious. My otherwise healthy wife has the symptoms for eight weeks now. When I had the first cold, I also had a high temperature, so I deferred the MTX for a week, but then resumed despite still coughing and wheezing and I don't think it made me worse. I've been on MTX three years now and had all sorts of side effects, but I always think if I were out in the freezing cold and had a choice between hypothermia and keeping warm with an itchy blanket, I'd always put up with some discomfort and choose the blanket. Stick with it when you get to those stages. Good LUCK.

Thanks saw GP same day who ordered a host of tests and reminded me that breathlessness can be due to mxt. Will also call rheumy nurse as also seeing rheumatologist next week so now sure to mention! I guess I just wanted to sound out people to see if I had a shared experience and wasn't being out. I liked the itchy blanket comment as I do wonder at times about the value of meds at the moment but it makes sense.

That's such a clever analogy WillyB - it made me smile because the MTX makes me so cold - but I know it's worth it really.

You must ask your doctor this question asap because we aren't medical people here Tuttlebees. TTx

would recommend seeking medical advice this may be a rare and potentially bad mtx side effect.

Hi, Summer, It is a principle of mine never to give medical advice, yet re-reading the comment I left I realise that this is exactly what someone could read into it. I will have to be much more careful in future with the wording of answers. Willyb

Hi Tutlebees, If I gave the impression that you should not seek medical advice, then I am very sorry. I only wrote the analogy to say MTX does have its bad sides, but its worth persevering. Hope you get better very soon.

I am only a volunteer/ site member NRAS have done a blog to us all advising to be careful not ot offer medical advice I am a site member the request applies to us all me included,

You should ask rheumay asap if you should hold off for Mtx a week or two.

Any breathlessness shoud be taken seriously.

Not what you're looking for?
