Hi. I used to attend there before I moved to Leicester and I found it ok. Nurses were nice. Sometimes had to wait a while but that seems to be like all places these days. Unlike a lot of hospitals they have their own blood clinics which is helpful. My mother still goes there and says there is a ticket system now for blood clinic, take a number and wait. The department itself is ok. Depends which consultant you are under really. Apart from waiting times its better than my new hospital (Leicester LRI). If my mom has any problems or queries there are nurses there to answer any questions. Busy but helpful. Hope this information helps.
Yes, I go there - I always see the 'chief' Dr N. I have a few gripes - why is rheumatology tucked into a little corner so far away from the x-ray department (you actually have to outside and up steps or quite a steep hill to get there), why does it seem to be the only department without automatic doors (the very nature of RA means its difficult to open these heavy doors)(when the smaller dept Orthotics a few yards away has auto doors). There are no tea/coffee facilities. But thats RA always the 'poor relation' in my view. No probs with staff just building. (Oh and the parking - everyone moans about the parking!)
Hi nina, I also go to new cross i find the rheumy dept is out dated and shabby, but no problems with staff who i find friendly & helpful .
Hi Wolf52
If you haven't done so already you might find it helpful to also take a look at the 'hospitals survey' section of HU where people can review their hospitals. You can search for your local hospital and read the comments other have left: nras.healthunlocked.com/hos...
Kind regards

Hi there,
I have been going there for 9yrs and it seems from my point of view going down hill. I'm with the chief too but wondering if I need to move now as not getting any help or support when I need it 10.5 weeks on with a flare up.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have been a patient there for four years now, and despite the consultant treating my RA with aggression (it is an aggressive disease after all) I don't feel entirely convinced. I am under Dr Al-Allaf. My GP tells me when I discussed the same with him that he doesn't feel it would be beneficial for me to transferred elsewhere, I was thinking perhaps the QE.
Anyway just wondered what everyone's experiences were that's all.
Thanks, Nina
