Hi I'm on leflunomide and does not seem to help it at moment I have been taking it for 3 months, but I was on sulphasazine before this which helped a great deal with the skin, but can no longer take it due to high mcv count.
Some of the DMARDs can definitely help with psoriatic arthritis, but most of them generally aren't as effective for spondyloarthritis as they are in RA. You really need to be seeing a rheumatologist who has a special interest in spondyloarthropathy,to make sure you are getting the treatment you need, and not one who is just treating you exactly the same way they would treat someone with RA. Not every rheumatologist really understands spondyloarthritis well enough.
I'm not sure why you came off MTX, but if you couldn't tolerate it, then they do use anti-tnf treatment for PsA as well, and you might want to ask your rheumatologist about that.
You might want to read up on PsA from one of the Psoriasis support group websites - they have a lot more relevant information on those sites sometimes.
hi, i've got psoriatic arthritis - i can't be very helpful i'm afraid, but i did notice when i first started taking mtx that my skin got better.
weirdly, i missed a week to take antibiotics and i started to get little warty type plaques on my elbows and knees - i don't know if you get those, i can only describe them as like warts or very very thick hairs. i think the mtx isn't helping my joint pain or stopped other joints being effected but it does seem to help my skin. i dont know about leflunomide - i haven't been given anything other than mtx at the moment.
