Hi folks!

Hope you are all keeping chirpy. Am being treated for RA - since August 2011. Having blood tests and a follow up in November. Taking methotrexate. Would be interested in any comments / support from others.

Ciao for now! x

Hi CaroF,

You are definitely in a good place for comments and support. It's nice to meet you but sorry that it is on here.

I have been on methotrexate since about 1995 in tablet form, some people on here have reported that they get on better with the injections. I have to take folic acid because of being on the Mtx. (folic acid tablets Monday and Wednesday - Mtx. on a Friday).

When you go for your follow up appointment write a list of the questions you want answered, you probably wont remember them all otherwise. It doesnt matter who you are seeing, GP or rheumy consultant/nurse, they are quite used to this approach.

When I see my rheumy team I give them a list of what has been happening to me with regard to the RA since my last appointment, which they have told me they find helpful (i.e. problem with left ankle, shoulder etc.) I do this because of the time lapse between appointments - my RA has a mind of it's own, somewhere will hurt for several weeks and then eases for a while - if it's not hurting at the time of my appoinment I have forgotten to mention it (before starting my 'problem list') this way my rheumy team can see how my RA is progressing.

Hope this helps a little, ask what you will, someone on here usually answers.

To add to what judi has said, keep a diary and chart how you are feeling day to day. Glad you have found us on here, there are a lovely bunch of people and they have kept me going when i'm down and they enjoy my successes to and that is cheering.
