Hi Paula - no you haven't been sent to cyber space.

re: 'the bio injection' what it is called - no doubt someone with medical knowledge on this site will be able to answer your question with more info.

Meanwhile, a very big welcome

Judi

Hi Paula it's ok you landed on plant RA! Lovely set of people with a culture of their own!! :-) Welcome - Nanoo nanoo.

Not sure what injection your are having? But I am sure someone will be able to help.

Ha, I was given a bunch of paperwork and asked to decide too! If its an anti tnf you are talking about, I chose Humira & so far so good. Bloods normal. no swelling or further joint involvement. Damage in ankle, but not horrifically - lots of info on here just search under key words. Enbrel would seem most popular in U.K, when first line Dmards fail.

Gina.

See nhs is branching further into d.i.y. its good you get to choose.. the opposite situatiion is no choice! x

Hi Paula - you must be feeling a little bit lost about all this? Have you had any drugs at all? What are your choices? Have they explained about what type of drug it is? I am all for people being in control of their disease and self managing but we do have to do this with all the facts and information before us.

An INFORMED choice is what it shoud be not go out and get a medical degree yourself!! What are they playing at?

Hopefully I have got the wrong end of the stick, I do hope you have been given more guidance that that - if not keep us informed because there is a wealth of information available from the good people on here. Take care

hi all ,thanks for the comments!, A bit of my history,,I have RA for 2 years, medically retired from my job in sept ( am only 45.) been on every thing from steroids to methotrexate.etc ,( which affected my lungs) been of all meds as awaitng to go on bio drugs now for 6months.Have now been given a choice of ,,,Infliximab,.Etanercept, Adalimumab ,Certolizumab pegol, Golimumab! if anyone knows anything about these drugs or are on them would be great help to me, thanks,x

Hi Paula,

I have just started Enbrel (etanercept) which I still take methotrexate along with it. Sorry it's too early for me to say much but thankfully my consultant decided that for me saying he found Enbrel to be the least problematic.

Was a bit scary at first, had a little panic thinking I was going to have some horrid side effect but so far nothing :)

Thats quite a long wait for you, hope you get started soon :)

Hi Paula

I started on Infliximab about 8 years but it failed after a year (apparently it is the one with the highest failure rate) and have since been on Enbrel (Etanercept) in combination with other drugs along the way. NRAS do a booklet all about the Biologics and it would be worth getting hold of a copy. Their helpline will also be able to discuss the different options with you.

Everyone is very different when it comes to treatments so worth getting unbiased advice/thoughts.

Lyn :)
