CRP or PV, at what point/result do you know if you are flaring?

I realise it will be different for everyone but your individual feelings would be great :)

Anything over a PV of 1.72 indicates inflammation, according to my ra dept. and anything over a CRP reading of 8. I am not sure whether this is a different scale in other areas. i know when I was on 15mg of Mtx My pv went over the top and since then has settled back down at 1.61 Even though I had "puffy" knuckles and toes not long ago, the bloods only went up to 1.64, but I suppose it wasn't really a full blow flare. I am not much of an indication really because it is clear that I do not have aggressive RA - but it still hurts!

My hands and feet tend to "puff" up and go red when I overdo things.... I still think the anatomy of a flare,of which there is a link on one of LynW's blog is an indicator of what is happening :-)

My CRP is usually <5 and ESR hovers around 20/21. I know if I am in a flare because of the pain and discomfort in the joints. In the middle of a flare at present and booked in for a steroid injection tomorrow and yet according to the GP nothing untoward in my bloods from last week! Yet I have been in such pain, have not been able to put my foot to the ground - it is swollen, red and inflamed and exactly the same symptoms in my right hand! Now is that strange or not? Thanks for that, would anyone one know then, as my CRP came down to 5 last week and I was due to start my TNF shortly, would that mean I won't get it?

Not sure how I feel about that!

And...... sorry, my hands are still very swollen and stiff and only this last week or so have my feet started to get bad so I don't get why the infammation marker is down, it's a strange disease! all other joints that have been bad are not so swollen but pain is still there, is that just how it is when controlled?

I think these blood readings can be totaly personal as I know I've had esr of 290 however when not flaring mine hovers around eighty and my crp as been 90 but when not flaring seems to hover between 25 - 30 ish.

This is my reason for thinking its a personal thing and not that I'm worse off if you know what I mean.

I know with how I feel what my bloods will be.
