Maybe he meant your Rheumatiod factor, not sure though can you not check with your GP, I have a little log book that I share with my GP and Rheumatologist with all my blood results in.

Hi Jaqi,

Sounds like your Rheumatiod factor, I have asked before about this test as mine was 1210. I went into panic mode as a result over 400 can indicate severe RA but I was re-assured that this is a un-reliable test for RA and that the high levels may be caused by several factors.

If you search the web for info on this it becomes very scary so I try to stick to this site to get support. Lyn has given me some great advice about a high R Factor test result, if you do a search (top right corner) you may see what she has to say.

I have aslo asked my consultant about this and he has explained that although the high result may once have resulted in severe RA, now meds have improved so much that it is much more chance of control.

:)

Hi Jaq1

Can you ring your rheumatology nurse or the hospital and they will tell you?

Also if you request the methotrexate monitoring booklet specially for patients it has a list of all the blood test ranges in it so you as a Patient can monitor your own blood test results. They should have given you one to fill in after each methotrexate blood result.

Hope you manage to get it sorted because when you dont fully understand things it makes you so much more stressed that you need to be.

Best Wishes

Fiona
