Does anyone know anything about JAK inhibitors? oral ... - NRAS
Does anyone know anything about JAK inhibitors? oral med for RA when all other meds have failed? sound interesting?.
Hi Gina. I didn't think Jak (Janus Kinase) was available yet, it's jak3 that is inline to be used for RA. Isn't it still on trial in America for RA and other diseases. I may be wrong and I must admit don't really now a lot about it.

Sorry Gina you did say not approved yet, and your so right new developments coming out all the time.
Certainly gives us all hope for the future.

Hi Gina
There are lots of new drugs in development and being trialled so plenty on the horizon. Here's a few recent links about this drug for anyone interested

I think it will be some time before it arrives here in the UK but good to know so many new routes are being investigated.

As ever Lyn where do you find this wonderful news, you amaze me.
Anyhow Gina there you are, I think I needed a question on cookery
xTx :)
I have access to quite a few medical journals courtesy of a doctor friend, others I hunt for ... I love information!
Just looked at each of these sites, as Lyn says, it is good to know new meds are in the pipeline....
My pea sized brain couldn't really understand it all but it appears to have had a positive outcome...Great question, glad you brought it up
Has anyone here taken part in these trials?
I thought I saw there was a trial in London? But again I have a pea sized one!!! So don't get far in Med Reports without zoning out, we only need the jist anyway.
Hi there, the JAK inhibitors are in the pipeline but it will be quite a while before they get through the necessary european approvals and NICE in England and are available to patients but it's reassuring that research is so prolific in RA. There are also SYK inhibitors in pipeline (!). We will be publishing more on these drugs in the next NRAS members' magazine. They start higher up in the inflammatory cascade than Anti-TNF for example.
Best wishes
Ailsa (CEO, NRAS)
Thanks Ailsa,
I suppose its hope I was high lighting. Nice to know there is an interest in our condition. Lets hope they develope more cost effective drugs - oral meds would seem better cost wise, than injections ( maybe) the drug companies must think there is money to be made in treatment of RA .... With all our economic problems they'll be lucky!
Gina.
Thanks for the info Gina, I hadnt heard off these drugs before I will have a good read up xx

Not been on for a while, but Lyn kindly flagged this.
I have just had a conversation with my rheumatology consultant about this and he is going to try for the funding.
Its not licensed in the UK- just passed phase 3 trials in America.
I have been looking at it and although the anti-tnf "ball" thingies dock the relay race to the chain of command is nobbled and then because it creates a not passable part because of the "nobbled" bits, it stops you making so much excessive anti-tnf.
For me, the key part is it doesn't have the biological protein and does have a *chance* of working...
I am worried more- in all honesty about the safety profile, having fallen so foul of them before....
Will look into the links
