hi, I’ve been taking methotrexate for about 3 months now, I have found that it is helping the RA but feel that my ability to exercise has been quite badly effected. I have noticed over time that I am becoming more breathless and have to stop to catch my breath far more often. I’m just wondering if this could be related to the methotrexate. Any advise would be grateful.

Methotrexate and stamina
I'm sorry I have no answer for you, except to say I also find this fatigue and breathlessness really gets me down. The only time mine has improved is while I am on steroids 🤷. Would love to know how anyone else has coped.
you need to contact your rheumatologist, as MTX can cause issues with breathing.
I think that is probably nothing to do with Methotrexate… it’s just one of the really annoying symptoms of RA … you have hardly been on the Mtx for very long, and it probably is the first thing that comes to mind when you catch your breath.I was on it for 7 years & never found it caused breathlessness.
Do mention it to your rheumy nurse next time you see her or speak to her, but I doubt she will feel it necessary to change your medication,
Methotrexate can cause lung issues. Speak to your rheumatologist and get it checked.
Yes- Lung problems & fatigue are indicated as side effects of Mtx (listed on the product information sheet).
I would contact your rheumatology team and ask their advice.
I never had problems with MTX, but do remember funding it more difficult to exercise than before RA. My rheumatology team put it down to fatigue. Best talk to them though. We all react differently to the drug. All the best.
