Hi! I had Covid 3 weeks ago. I applied for Paxlovid through my GP. After a phone call from the local hospital, checking I wasn't taking any meds that might interact, they arranged for it to be delivered

Sorry, pressed the wrong button....arrived within 24 hours. The symptoms started to reduce almost immediately after the first dose! It was really effective and I had none of the predicted side effects.

Hope you have a similar experience.

Worked well. I took it 10 days. Symptoms. Headache went away. Doc says I’d have metallic taste but didn’t notice it. Grateful to have received it

Hi Judes. You mentioned that you took it for 10 days. Am I correct? Thanks

I was given paxlovid a couple of years ago it did help to reduce the symptoms however I was only able to tolerate it for 3 days as the side affects made me severely dehydrated with GI issues. I spent the 3 days virtually on the bathroom floor so was advised to stop. I also got a rebound infection 5 days after being negative which was unfortunate. I had Covid again three weeks ago and didn’t opt for antivirals this time. Although I was pretty poorly for 10 days I got through it ok. I hope the paxlovid helps you and you recover quickly.

Thank you for feedback. Do you mind sharing what GI issues you had. I passed a lot of urine the first day.

I had uncontrolled diarrhoea, hence being severely dehydrated even though I was drinking copious amounts of water. I lost almost 8kg in weight in 3 days. I had to stop the paxlovid as it was becoming apparent that I was in trouble as a result of the side effects. Unlucky I guess so I decided not to have the antivirals again this time.

It worked very quickly for me. I tested positive on Sunday got the Paxlovid on Monday afternoon and was feeling pretty rough by then. After 2 doses I was almost back to normal. The only side effect I had was a nasty taste in my mouth during treatment. I found that Biotene Gel (for dry mouth conditions) gave me some relief for a while. It was so nice to have a normal taste for a wee while.

I had Paxlovid for my first bout of Covid. It worked very quickly although it did give me a horrible taste in my mouth. Unfortunately around 24 hours after recovering and having a negative test I started to feel ill again and Covid had returned. It then took quite a while to go. Apparently this is called a bounceback infection and happens in a very small number of cases. The reinfection is thought to be much less severe than if Paxlovid has not been taken so I was very glad to have had it otherwise I think I might have ended up in hospital. The second time I had Covid I was provided with it but by the time it arrived I was fine.

I took it a couple of years ago and it literally worked after the first dose , awful metallic taste , which wasn’t nice but I got rebound covid after finishing and that was worse than the original Covid .

If I caught covid again, I would think twice about taking it but that’s just my opinion, everyone is different

I had the same good experience and efficiency from the NHS with Paxlovid as DenMum. The only slight side effect was a metallic taste for the duration of the course which ended as soon as I stopped taking the tablets.

Would certainly take them again if I had to.

I was prescribed Paxlovid after Covid infection in 2022 and as others have reported it reduced my symptoms really quickly and I tested negative after about 6 days.

I also had the awful metallic taste but it was a good excuse to eat a copious amount of Haribo sours!

Just had covid it was milder than last year didn't take anti viral by day 5 test was clear and I felt better after the 3rd day. Last year awful for a week and tested positive for 2 weeks. We are all different. I did stop methotrexate for one dose (week)
