Insomnia due to sulfsalazine?

Has anyone experienced insomnia due to sulfasalazine?

yes amongst other side effects . Unfortunately I had to stop taking it . If a medication makes life worse I’m a mind to stop. I don’t want to swap one set of symptoms for another

Yes, I suffered insomnia on sulfersalazine. I didn’t connect sleepless nights for a long time, just thought it was me. It wasn’t until I stopped the drug for a year or so and then was put back on it again and the insomnia started again that I realised there was a very strong link between symptom and drug. I stopped it immediately. It was a shame as other than that (which by the way is a rare side effect) worked very well for me for about three and a half years.

I would speak to your Rheumatologist and swap meds

Thanks to all for your comments. I am seeing my rheumatologist in a few days and am hoping to change meds because of other side effects of sulfasalazine but I also have an appointment the very next day with another doc specifically to discuss my insomnia. Now I can suggest to this second doc that my insomnia may be due to a medication side-effect. I only hope that I find the side effects of another medication (and there undoubtedly will be) more tolerable.
