SULFASALAZINE & Side Effects

Hello. Grateful for anyone's advice on how long it takes for side-effects, in particular diarrhea, to disappear after stopping taking sulfasalazine. Thanking you in advance.

NB I had not realised, before joining this group, how many poor people must be suffering from ailments that are not just debilitating but have no recognised path to curing or alleviating & often not apparent to others. Bowel issues are one example - tenesmus being my main problem at the moment.

Best wishes to you all, Gussmithy.

I think it’s been different for everyone. I had lots of side effects when I started and found it hard so push through them all. Loose stool was defo one. It was a while ago now but I remember after about 2 months it all better and I am stable on the meds now

took me three months before I felt confident to eat anything outside the house! But them worked well for years.

Maybe worth contacting your rheumatology helpline to see if they can help. I was fortunate and didn't have side effects
