I’m sorry to hear of your leukaemia diagnosis. I have been on methotrexate for many years and changed my day because I forgot to take it on the original day. Because I’d changed the day from Friday to Saturday, I had to continue taking it on a Saturday. I take it just before I go to bed so sleep through any possible side effects.

I’m sure you could change the day to suit you better. I’ve missed doses completely and changed the day. Maybe ask Rheumatologist for advice. Hope it helps you.

Hi MsMeesie1, very sorry about your diagnosis. I was on MTX (methotrexate) for about 13 years for rheumatoid arthritis & although it generally did its job, like you, I'd feel horrible the day after taking it, even though it was prescribed with folic acid to counter the effects of nausea etc. Are you on folic acid too? No one ever suggested I take folic acid for the rest of the week! as it seems that helps a lot, I was only on folic acid one day a week, so perhaps ask about taking that for the other 6 days. I got a lot of chronic nausea as time went on with MTX and finally it poisoned my body - but it doesn't do that to everyone & I had a good long time on it - and - as I say, perhaps the nausea would have gone with folic acid on more than one day a week! GOod luck to you, really hope it can work for you - it is a very successful drug. All the best x

Hi I'm no expert but I have been on methotrexate for about a year now. I'm also on a biological drug. Between them I'm pretty much undercontrol. I understand what you're saying about feeling unwell the day after I am too nothing drastic but I've learned to live my life around my injections I don't organise anything for those times. It's not always possible but it does limit the days when you feel unwell and demotivated. I hope you find a way around it because it is a fantastic drug xx

Hi

Sorry to read your diagnosis, really hope your treatment goes well

I am methotrexate and found it gave me headache within a couple of hours of taking it, I also got nausea and a very upset stomach for most days

I now take the tablets just before I go to bed so hopefully asleep before the headache kicks in and now take folic acid 6 days a week, I won’t say it has cleared all side effects but the nausea is less often and milder plus the headaches are also less strong

Hope you get something that helps you

Take care xx

I hope the doctors are looking after you carefully. ❤️❤️❤️ I would call the pharmacist and ask him what he thinks. In Canada I was told that it was fine to manipulate when I took the medication by several days. I am on leflunimide now and it is better for me so I don't have to worry anymore about feeling sick from the medicine. Take care.
