Jelly legs……..

Hi All. Had to stop Filgotinib three weeks ago as have been felled by bronchitis. Don’t normally -and luckily - suffer any chest infections or colds but this has been really vicious. Am getting over it but have legs like jelly and a head like a sponge if I attempt to do anything very much. Tried going for a walk a couple of days ago and it absolutely floored me.

Has anyone else had jelly legs - feel as if they’re not going to hold you up - after an infection ? How long before that starts to go and will I ever get right again she wails……..My RD is unstable due to the on/off saga of Filgotinib causing low lymphocytes so I guess it’s all combining to wreck my bod. Interested and keen to know other experiences of post infection blues. Thanks loads in advance, I know I’ll get sensible advice. X

I had viral meningitis many years ago and was very wobbly during recovery. I know glandular fever can make you weak for quite a while too. Even good old flu had me shaky afterward. Maybe your GP could help? In the olden days you'd be given a good old tonic!

Sorry to hear you have been so ill, I had a horrible chest infection about six months ago and it took me a while to get over it. I restarted my Filgotinib about three weeks after the infection . My white cells and neutrophils dipped slightly during the first 9months of taking Filgotinib but seems to have sorted and all fine now. I have to say that most of my friends who don’t take medication have rotten coughs and colds too, if anything I have less infections …..

Thanks to both you and GinnyE. As I have had so few chest infections it’s clobbered me and made me feel really weak and also low in mood. I know it’ll go eventually but I’m so impatient to get back to as normal as you can be with RD I’m frustrated that I still feel so exhausted. Hey ho, there’s lots worse to be had. Stay well.

It's common to feel very weak and wobbly. Take things slowly and build up your activities gradually. Just walking around the house every hour can help!
