I have recently been given spinal stenosis as a diagnosis by A and E and am waiting now to see a consultant and have a MRI scan to confirm exactly what the problem is.

Spinal Stenosis
I hope you get some help. I'm off to see the neurosurgeon tomorrow 🤞
Hope the MRI points them in the right direction Chisholm.Nothing quite like spinal pain!
I had spinal stenosis in 2002 and had neurosurgery to decompress and fix my neck with titanium rods from C3-C6. I had lots of neurological signs but virtually no pain.
Hope you find answers.
I would be interested in hearing how you get on.
I also have spinal stenosis (as well as currently three disc protusions impinging on the nerves for which i am scheduled to have injections). The spinal surgeon said that he didn't want to operate to relieve the stenosis unless the loss of sensation became permanent at any stage - when he would do it as an emergency. I think it probably depends on the severity and how you are coping with it.
It seems to be quite a common problem with aging....
I have spinal stenosis, degenerative lumbar disc disease and spina bifeda occulta, I had several epidurals and IDET treatments in the early 2000’s but finally had 2 decompressions and fusions with titanium implants in 2003-2005. I still have issues with my back especially as 1 of the screws is close to a nerve which causes problems but I’m upright and able to walk. Good luck with your back and with whatever treatment they are able to offer you. Xx
