Can I still take my tocilizumab injections while on prednisolone đź‘Ť
Tocilizumab : Can I still take my tocilizumab... - NRAS
Tocilizumab
If they've been coprescribed then yes. Otherwise it's a medical question & we can't advise on that, sorry, so you'd need to ask the original prescriber of whichever med.
I've been on prednisolone for years, and have been prescribed several biologics, including tocilizumab and JAK inhibitors whilst on prednisolone.
I was on Tocilizumab for 10 years and took 5mg Prednisolone a day the whole time. Only times I stopped the Tocilizumab were when I was prescribed antibiotics. Hope this helps x
I was not aware you can't do antibiotics and Tocilizumab together? I receive Tocilizumab every 4 weeks and have just been prescribed antibiotics by a dermatologists due to an acneiform eruption on my face. I have to take the antibiotics 2 months. I'll contact my rheumatologist!
I started on Tocilizumab infusions every four weeks in March 2011, then 7 years later was switched to weekly self administered injections and was stopped as no longer effective end of June 2021. Every time I was prescribed antibiotics I contacted my RA consultant for guidance and each time I was told to stop Tocilizumab until 7 days after the last dose of antibiotic. I can’t confirm whether it’s the same for all but would definitely advise you to contact your RA team of speak to the nurses at your infusion clinic. I hope Tocilizumab is helping you x
The Tocilizumab is definitely helping me, so far am into it since 2 years (after 7 years of 'regular' meds). I send a mail to my clinic (doc and nurses) and am waiting for their reply now. Would have to take the antibiotics for 2 months...
