Pain killers with covid
Hi Lorrac.
Sorry to hear you’ve got Covid and I hope you recover quickly.
Do check if it is safe to take NSAIDS like ibuprofen with any other medication you already take as sometimes it’s not!
Paracetamol based pain killers should be ok so yes to Zapain if necessary but that’s incredibly strong as it contains codeine too.
If you are at all unsure do seek medical advice.
Hiya Lorrac, welcome to the NRAS site. I'm sorry to hear you have covid. I do hope you won't be too poorly with it. We can't say exactly what you can & cannot take, but it may depend on if you're normally prescribed them. Are they normally part of your rheumatoid meds at all? If so then there should be no reason for you to stop I shouldn’t think, that is either Zapain (cocodamol) &/or ibuprofen or aspirin&/or ibuprofen, just not cocodamol & aspirin together. Being weekend your local pharmacist where you have your prescriptions made up will be able to advise.
As you've tested positive are you eligible for antivirals at all? If so don't delay reporting your test results.
Please ask your pharmacist. We don't know what other medication you are on. For example if you are on anticoagulants, you should not take ibuprofen or anadin (an expensive version of aspirin). Paracetamol is usually OK but there is 500mg paracetamol in Zapain so you need to count that into your total dose per 24 hours.
