Frio for long haul flight?

I am due to travel to Abu Dhabi to visit my son, DIL and their new baby born 4th March. Need to take my Cosentyx with me but it needs to be kept cool. Have searched the Frio pouch on here but wondered if anyone who has used one could tell me how they keep it going. Will probably be 10 hour travel time door to door. Do you take a spare and soak that ready for when the first one dries out?

I use this cool bag for my Enbrel pens when travelling to Saudi Arabia so a similar travel time as you will have to AD. It keeps the pens cold enough for about 12-14 hours.

I’m afraid I don’t know about Cosentyx ….But do give your son all the details of the drugs you intend taking…. and ask him to make sure to check whatever drugs you are taking with you are allowed in to Abu Dhabi.

I seem to remember anything containing codeine is banned and they take it very seriously if you try to take it in ….so please get it checked out before you go…& get it in writing.

The website says it’ll keep them at temperature within 18 - 26 degrees for 45 hours minimum so no need to resoak.

Also for my Mum going to Dubai we had to do a MOHAP which means you pre authorise medication you are taking. I had to upload a prescription of meds and a medical letter and then they sent back a certificate saying all approved. Did it in 48hrs but meant all sorted and no issues on Dubai end as controls are very strict. You might not need it. mohap.gov.ae/en/home

There is a list on the government website which gives medication not allowed. Does not include Methotrexate or cosentyx. I will double check. I have a letter from the hospital to say they are you prescription

The MOHAP is a great site it gives you confidence to know that all your meds will be allowed in and they know you are coming in with them and the certificate is peace of mind so worth doing . I dont know about each drug I did it so my mum knew at customs she had all paperwork pre trip sorted

I travel abroad regularly & it’s a 12 hour door to door trip. I was always told be Rheumy that a fruit pack was not adequate as it’s only suitable for insulin or similar meds that need to be cool but not cold as our injections require. I travel with a large cool bag given to me at hospital by Rheumy team & 4 ice packs ( 2!in a separate pocket & 2 wrapped in a towel next to meds) & a thermometer. It is generally around 8-10 degrees on arrival. It’s a difficult one to call as I’ve read a lot on here use a frio pack ( I did until told not to) & they seem to be ok. Enjoy your trip x

I understand that Cosentyx can be ok for 4 days outside of fridge if kept cool. Is that right? That should take me to my injection day 🤞. Still struggling to get through to rheumatology or Sciensus 😥
