I have been reading the posts about is vaccine booster i thought they were both the same ,I am to get booster therefore what's the 3rd vaccine ? You all give differen opinion s so I am confused 😕
Confused: I have been reading the posts about is... - NRAS
Confused
3rd vaccine is the booster as far as I am concerned
JCVI referred to it as “third primary dose” and “booster dose” on the same page on one document! 😳 We have our vaccines recorded of course on the NHS system so the dates are there for when third/boosting jabs have been given and hopefully we’ll get the reminders for the booster of the booster six months after. Confused? Of course not! 😁 ( I find it easier to call it third vaccine for me as I don’t have anything to boost as yet! 🤨 x)
🤷♀️ I've given up trying to work it out 😂 I'll go for my next one when it's time and then just wait and see 👍
The booster is to top up your previous jabs darling. It is supposed to give us more immunity. xxxxx
I went for my 3rd jab and it was booked and recorded as a booster
I believe that this is a 3rd primary vaccination and I will still have a booster due in 6 months time.
If you are told that you are eligible for a 3rd primary vaccination then you get a booster 6 months afterwards. The actual jab is the same.
They are the same. They just need to be registered differently so that people who need an extra one will get it in a few months time.
I had a letter from rheumatology clearly stating to get the third dose which should be Phizer and to be recorded as my third primary. At the vaccination centre additional paper work was completed by a staff member to enable this jab to be entered on the computer as a third primary which would then bring my name up in six months time to have a booster. On the little card I was given it was also recorded as 3rd primary. There is no difference in the Phizer vaccine that’s put in your arm but just how it is recorded on the computer. I hope that’s made it a little clearer🤔
Third vaccine according to letter I had is part of your primary dose, so there in total then the booster 6 months after that.
So 3rd primary vaccine is for people on certain immunosuppressants, to bring their level of immunity up to that of most of the population. Some people didn’t mount many antibodies due to their meds, so this 3rd dose should help, and can be given anytime after 8 weeks from the 2nd dose. Your specialist will send a letter if your one of the 500,000 who qualify, and you take that to a vaccine centre. The booster is for healthy individuals to top up their protection over winter. You can have 6 months + 1 week after your 2nd dose. Hopefully that will clear things up for you, the 3rd dose has not been advertised very well
On the news last night they said if you are CEV you get a 3rd Jab and you will then be eligible in 6 months for a booster so actually I suppose you get 4 jabs in all.
I think the confusion comes from terminology.
I went for 3rd booster, the gp were fantastic and it had been recorded as my third primary dose so I will be called for a booster in 6months time.
The booster and third dose are exactly the same dose, it is just that it needs to be recorded as the third primary on our records to ensure we are called for our booster (4 dose) in 6 months
The third vaccine is for immunosuppressed people. It’s the same vaccine as given for the booster, but if you’ve had the third vaccine, you’ll be invited for a booster in a few months time.
Reading these posts, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if those of us down for the 3rd primary vaccine experience further confusion in 6 months when it's potentially booster time.
I'll be holding onto a letter from my consultant stating that I qualify for the 3rd primary vaccine. Hopefully that will help should there be problems when booster time arrives. That's if I'm still here as, apparently, my area in Wales is one of the worst in the UK for the growing rate of infections and I'm hearing of an increasing number of people, who I know, living nearby getting covid. No intention of waiting nearly 2 weeks for my 3rd jab, especially when there's less vunerable people of my age that I also know , getting their boosters before me! So I'm off to my nearest vaccination centre today armed with my consultant's letter and Nov 6th appointment to explain my situation. Hopefully, though I doubt it, they might be able to fit me in today. If not then I'll ask about being informed when there's a cancelation, of which there should be no shortage. We shall see................
Rant over
Should add that I had to cancel my initial appointment for the 3rd vaccine roughly 2 - 3 weeks ago because of a throat infection. My flu jab too, which I'm now having next saturday, but am not concerned about that as there doesn't appear to be much in the way of flu around, yet.
Hi Zephre,Please do not quote me as I am not an expert on this matter just a person who was diagnosed with RA when I was 22 yrs old and I am now 74Yrs young.
This is my personal experience regarding the covid booster. I wasn't sure what the difference between the "Booster" and the "Third" injection. I contacted my RA nurse and she said that because I am Injecting Enbrel I need to have the Third jab. To explain this for you I went for my Third jab and this is how it was explained to me at the Vaccination centre. Some people who are immune supressed need to have a third jab and then six months later have a Booster. This differs from those who are not immune supressed they just need a second dose the a booster six months later. The injections are the same for all its just and extra jab for people who are immune suppressed. The reason for this is the immunity level becomes lower quicker in people who have suppressed immune system therefore need a third dose then another booster.
I hope this helps you with your uncertainty and don't worry the fact you are getting the jabs are the important thing for your protection against this awful disease.
Take care.
Ray.
Good answer x
I was told by the GP I didnt qualify for a 3rd primary dose but was due my booster which I had 29th Nov. Then I got a text from the hospital I see the rheumatologist at asking me to book a 3rd primary dose as they had identified me as eligible…had anyone successfully got the GP to recode a booster into a 3rd primary? Oh dear. I was so pleased I had had a jab quickly now I think I may have a problem!
There are 2 jabs being talked about. The booster jab which people have 6 months after their 2nd jab. The 3rd primary dose is for people with compromised immune system due to condition or medication - different to booster jab. Those having 3rd jab will have a booster jab at a later point. So in effect will have 4 jabs.
Thank you all for replying to my query much appreciated 😏😏
