ARMCHAIR EXERCISE

Hi folks can you recommend good websites for armchair exercises and advice for stiff knees. I use my exercise bike in short bursts 2/3 times a day, trying to build up the amount of time and move around more. I spend too much time on my laptop. I'm studying on line for a qualification, good marks above the required pass so far and there is a job at the end that will allow me to work from home. If I'm not online I'm reading, watching TV, knitting. When I stand up it can hurt and take moments to move. Good/bad days. Rarely go out, shopping delivered, there's nowhere I need or feel I want to go to at the moment. No news from the DWP yet after my 1:1 with Occupational Health. Our phone line suggested studying for a qualification they wouldn't pay forit should go in my favour. I will be working for the company when qualified and getting more money than typing job per hour. NRAS also suggested I put in for early retirement. Meds are kicking in, drinking Guinness in small doses, taking vitamin B that was also suggested and told not drinking enough water. Feeling better than my last post. Bella has now settled down, in more probably due to wet/cold weather. Thank you, good wishes and good health to your all.

There were some “chair-obic” type You Tubes that Amy Lee (one of our lovely people on this board) linked us to a year or so who. See if you can find seated exercise on YT. Agree that a lot of time spent on laptops and phones makes you seize up!

Someone posted about the Mr Motivator Daily Dozen Workouts on YouTube and I started doing them during lockdown; many of them included his wife seated on a chair. I'm now back to AquaFit at the leisure centre and it's definitely helping although I am a bit stiff getting up if Ive been sitting down for too long.Great to hear that you're feeling a bit better and that Bella is settling in again.

Versus Arthritis have some really good videos on their website. Some are daily stretches, done seated, and some more active but still gentle exercises.

NHS also do some exercises designed to be be carried out whilst seated: nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/s...

They also have a chair-based pilates video:

There are a series of exercises called Let’s move with Leon on the Versus Arthritis site. Well explained and easy to follow.

Hi Rita, The links to these exercises wee posted by Kay in 2017 on health unlocked. I had a look at them and they are gentle stretching/yoga exercises. Maybe just what you are looking for? Worth a try, methinks. Have fun.
