I've had sacroiliac/hip pain for years and over the last year or so I've had intermittent pain/swelling of my big knuckles (where my fingers join my hands). Worse in my non dominant hand. A physio video consultation at my gp has done an urgent rheumatology referral which I have on Friday and I must say I'm getting worried now. Ccp is normal crp is acceptable (5.9) and hand foot xrays show wear and tear. What can I expect to happen at this appointment on Friday? Thank you for any replies.

Thank you for your reply. Hopefully I'll be a step closer to some answers tomorrow. I'll let you know. 🙂
Have a look at the NRAS website for advice on what to expect at your first appointment. Take a record of what has been happening so that you don't forget anything and also record what they say will happen next. The amount of information can be a bit overwhelming!
Hope you have a useful consultation.
Just saw this thread. Hope all went well yesterday and you got some answers.
Thank you for your replies. It was a productive consultation. He doesn't think think my symptoms fit Rheumatoid Arthritis or Ankylosing Spondylitis but wants me to have a hand ultrasound and spine MRI to exclude both. He's asked my GP to prescribe a stronger NSAID in the meantime. He talked about inflammatory osteoarthritis or maybe some genetic cartilage condition (I think). I forgot to get my pen and paper out to write things down and of course I can't remember lots of it. Was all a bit overwhelming!!
