I'm really sorry to hear that you have been having such a bad time for so many years. The only consolation is that treatments are improving all the time now so there is always hope for the future.

Crikey only 6 years for me.must be very draining.I think consultants promise too much as nothing I have tried has made me pain free.Hope you have a partner like mine who understands and helps.

I’m much older than you, 62, and am 14 years on from diagnosis, but I too haven’t had a painfree day since then. Life is just made more interesting by the different levels of pain! Sometimes when I read on here from people who are in remission I’m very envious! It’s not just the RA, it’s the meds I have to take to counteract the side effects of the RA meds!

I was diagnosed in November last year and haven't been pain free since then ,I'm on methotrexate and hydroxychloquine and now have been given amitriptyline which helps me sleep better.I have a few days now and again where I think I'm getting a bit better but then I'm back using my stick or not able to walk at all ,I may sound stupid but what does remission actually mean ,?days, weeks, months? without pain and how do I know if I'm in remission .I hate that I never know from one day to the next if it's going to be a good or bad day .

I’m like you only I’m 54 but I don’t know what a pain free day is like either. I had a work colleague who was your age and her RA was very severe to the max and she had two young children too, however I found out that she is now in full remission after being in an awful state for well over 10 years. So there is hope with new treatments, it’s been 4 years since I saw her but she has started jogging again, to be honest when we both had to leave work because of RA I would never have thought it possible. Got to admit I’m very envious and I hope everyone gets to be in full lasting remission. Maybe one day eh, chin up it might yet happen for you too.
