19/05/2021 - Salt is new culprit in autoimmunity?
Interesting read. xxxx
They contradict the findings quite alot in this paper.
To quote the Dr who conducted the study
"there are likely to be environmental factors other than salt that are responsible for the increased prevalence of autoimmune disease, so there are numerous avenues of research yet to be followed."
Good that people are looking into things, every little helps 😁
This paper was issued in 2013 so would be interesting if they've continued their studies .
You are indeed very right to say that. I do hope more research can be done into this in fact. Anyhow, this is the first time I come across salt and auto immune possible relationship though. Regardless, it is still good to keep the intake of salt low for health purpose.
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
In general I am very cautious about the results of research that is done in the lab on mice cells.....an awful lot of it never transfers to real life with human bodies.
So worth keeping an eye on, but no more than that for me. Anyway, interestingly my OH and I have been advised to increase salt content as our blood pressures are too low! We don’t actually like salty food anymore so this isn’t easy, there are only so many anchovies one can eat 😶
Once during my pregnancy, I was told not to put salt in all my food as my blood pressure was on the high side. Since, I got used to not having salt in my food and I was okay with that. Unfortunately after I came back to Malaysia, a lot of time we eat out hence get back to the salty taste of food again. But our system can adjust to it, I am very sure you will get use to it slowly.
Oh no . I will have to also give up chips and boiled eggs as i cant eat them without salt !!
No need to give up what you love to eat, just put less salt will do. To give up the food we love is so miserable. That is no no for me! Hahaha..
Salt and I hope i never have to give up vinegar lol! But lots of things say vinegar is good for the gut and pickled things ... so chips, little salt and pickled onions yum!! 😅🥰
I take yogurt with fruits daily to keep my gut healthy. 😉
😋.. my dad cut back on salt and ended up in hospital. Was told we need salt in our diet .. it’s finding the balance it’s different for everyone . At the moment I’m having sweats with a flare so I know I need to up salt intake.
Ah good , solves my salt issues too .. xx
My problem is I love salt and vinegar.. sweat and sour .. most things apart from fish which doesn’t like me. 😁couldn’t cut anything out .x
Just take them moderately will do. To cut any food that we love is really miserable and stressful too. So I do not suggest to do that. Instead, just reduce it slowly if we have taken a bit too much.
Agree, we are all different and our body need different things to function well. So we are the best doctor of ourselves. I love sweet stuff especially ice-cream!!
What we eat should be moderate. We should not cut them all out completely. Our body still needs it.
Thanks for forwarding this study. There were so many caveats that I found the results unconvincing. I don't like studies in mice applied to humans anyway!
I do agree that we should be eating less salt and particularly if you have raised blood pressure. But if you already eat a 'Mediterranean type diet' and always have, there isn't much salt to reduce!
