If only people would stop thinking they must get it now, now, now ...the majority of whom are probably not nearly as vulnerable as they seem to think.

We should all be thanking our lucky stars we are lucky enough to live in a country where there are a number of vaccines available, and that we will be given it free....in what seems to be a very well organised system.

I’m sure nobody who is truly vulnerable will be missed...& as most of those are being sensible & not taking chances.....this week or next is not going make a difference.

Just to say that I received a text message from my surgery with a link to book so it might not actually be a letter...

I got a text yesterday from my GP Surgery to say I will get a phone call to get mine at the surgery in the next few weeks because I’m shielding. All over 75s will get a letter to go to a central clinic. Think we are defo behind in Scotland. Hopefully it will be soon, can’t understand some people having the second one already but not complaining, good for them.

I had the same as you.

We had a phone call from our GPs asking if we would like to have ours done which we accepted and a couple of days after actually having the vaccinations, we received the letter to book online!!

Hi Spring, I thought from reading on the NHS site (I looked after H1707 said you could check to see if you’re eligible but didn’t input any of my info in case it knocked out my vaccine record with the GP. You never know now how the software works! ) that you have to have received the official letter inviting you to book, before you can go ahead and actually book on there, so how are these people getting on? .. and if they aren’t vulnerable/frontline/senior then ...... x

in reply toNeonkittie17

You should not be able to . Nhs no requirement means you shouldn’t be able to jump the queue. I got my sister to double check with her nhs no to double check incase I was wrong.

I got kicked off by NHS on the booking as my file not been updated so it does work if all records correct. RA clinic deem me grp 4 but my GP office has not updated records so class 6.

I hope not too. 🤨. It should be scam proof shouldn’t it from the NHS?! 🙏🤞🏻

Just to make it clear if anyone reading this without seeing the other posts and comments that I am not trying to jump any queues! Just hoping other people not yet eligible weren’t trying to get one wouldn’t do so. Was looking just to see the system procedure if I was invited to book it from there. I won’t be invited that way I don’t think. Didn’t go any further than look at the homepage. I’ll be phoned I’m told from my GP practice. That’s fine.😀 I’m accepting the fact my next Rituximab will be late.

They're probably being contact directly by their GP surgeries like we were. I was thinking that I had at least a few more weeks before I would be vaccinated and was shocked to receive the phone call and even more surprised when the letter turned up afterwards.

Think mine will be a couple of weeks. Think the letter is a safety net in case you don’t get the call or miss it? (People may have changed number and not let the practice know maybe?)

I had a text with a link to book online which I did and booked in for next week. I just tried to book through swiftqueue and was unable to. (Obviously wouldn’t have hit go!.). The only immunisations were flu jabs in schools.

I got my letter yesterday, booked it online and I get my injection tomorrow the 5-Feb. I'm 62 years old.

I was called on Monday afternoon by my GP surgery for my appointment on Tuesday afternoon, I have never received a letter. It appears that different health authorities are working differently. I’m 62 and shielding.

in reply toFreddiefan

I think you've hit the nail on the head, Freddiefan. People will be contacted when they become eligible, but it may be done by letter, text or phone call, depending on where they live. We got a text telling us to go to a website to book or alternatively to phone a number they gave. We were identified by name, address and GP surgery, no NHS number required. One of us also got a letter, but after having the vaccine.

Go into the online booking system. It will allow you ONLY once your group is available - not before. So for over 70 and CRV. And it saves GPs and health care staff time fielding calls or calling patients. I have at least 5 friends who are nurses and doctors AND I fundraise for a major health care system. They are desperate for people to use the NHS booking system if their group is called. I got my jab this week and the nurse even commented she didn’t understand why they are sitting around at the vaccine place - they have appointments available but not enough people are booking (London) so they sit there. nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir...

I did not receive a letter regarding the vaccine. My GP was given a list of clinically vulnerable and they called me on my house phone to arrange the appointments.

There are different systems in different areas. Unless it becomes obvious that you have been missed out you should not need to do anything active yourself until contacted.

Some people are having letters through the post, others text messages or phone calls. Some people have then to make an appointment, others are sent an appointment.

Even in the same area, some people have an appointment by letter (me), other people (my next door but one neighbour) a phone call - and we are both registered at the same surgery.

An example of someone being missed is a 84 year old whose friends of similar age in her area had been contacted, but she had not received anything. She rang her surgery to find that they had 'left a message on her phone' - but they had an incorrect phone number for her. She was then able to make another appointment.

It is confusing as some people have a date for their second jab straight after having the first. And for some no second date. Therefore could end up getting it later than the 12 weeks window. Also could be mix matched with a different brand to the first jab! And no one really knows???

Hi. Myself and OH both got letters from NHS to book online which I have done for next Tuesday at Newcastle. I live in Shotley bridge. My OH got a call today from GP to offer him the jab in the surgery but she said they have not got round to me yet so we have decided to just go to Newcastle as previously booked together. He is 72 and I’m 62 and CEV. I feel very lucky .

I had an email from my GP surgery on a Saturday morning asking me to reply wether I wanted the vaccine and they would call back and book an appointment when they were open again which was Monday . I went to the NHS website, and entered my all my details and I was accepted (I’d previously tried this and was told I wasn’t eligible yet) so - I booked through the NHS vaccination centre near to me.

I have double checked with my surgery since, & they assured me that is absolutely fine - as I had received the email inviting me .

I am in category 4 as I am clinically extremely vulnerable, I have never looked forward to a vaccination so much in my life. The flu vaccine knocks me about a bit for roughly a month - so be interesting to see if I am unwell with the AstraZeneca Oxford jab.

My mother and step father were unwell for 3 days , as was an elderly friend who is 86, but mostly shivers, headache and fatigue . I suffer those symptoms and worse every day so my medication may just ease the symptoms.
