Been on biologics since Christmas (CIMZIA) to be exact. Recently I have been getting numbness and pins and needles in my hands, and a burning sensation. So happy to be on the biologics so can certainly deal with these symptoms, just want to ensure I am not doing any long term damage. So it’s now being investigated. Was just wondering if anyone else has had these symptoms? Thanks

Pins and needles - biologics related?
I have pins and needles in hands/arms and feet/legs as well as pain radiating down my legs. Just had scan and MRI of neck and lower back which is showing degenerative changes in 8 or 9 vertebrae that is likely to be causing the pins and needles (in french you have “ants”, which describes it pretty well to me!). Off to see the rheumy tomorrow to discuss... my ants, like your pins and needles, are bearable at present but I too am concerned this could lead to permanent nerve damage.
What investigations have been proposed?
I had a nerve conduction study and an MRI head and neck and awaiting the results. The rheumatologist said they had never heard of the side effect but I did some research and people have talked about it so wanted to know other peoples experience.
Would like to to know what your rheumatologist thinks and hopefully it’s not permanent.
I get pins and needles when I swell.
I started entanercept last January. First dose caused burning and pins and needles from my shins to my feet after injections last 2 days. By July It never went away and intensity was getting worse Red hot pins and needles spreading to my hands. A steroid injection helped. Entanercept was blamed and I stop taking it in September and it’s all but disappeared. Disease is getting active again and I’m getting some burning in my feet but it’s not bad. I’m waiting to start baricitnib but that’s another story.
I had tingling on my head, nausea, dizziness and weakness in my right leg. All my tests were normal but I asked to stop Cimzia. After stopping the medication, it improved, but I have been left with some occasional tingling on my head and less sensation in my right ankle. I hope you are not left with any damage and find out if it was Cimzia that caused this.
