Etanercept

Hi, I’ve been on Etanercept for a year now and was doing so well but the last month I’m having so much pain and inflammation, just wondering has anyone else has experienced this as it feels like the medication isn’t working anymore and I don’t really want to contact Rhumatology just yet incase it’s a common occurrence.

Yes Susan. I started etanercept in January. Did really well at first but since July things have deteriorated . Contacted the team last week . They have decided it’s no long working well enough so changing medication.

Do contact your clinic by phone or email they need to know what’s happening . These drugs can stop working at anytime.

Hi, thank you for the reply can I ask what medication you’ve been given please? I’m feeling so disappointed as I was getting on so well with Etanercept, no side effects was such a relief after trying other medication with bad side effects.

Everyone is different and every rheumatologist have their own way of doing things . First they mentioned Rituximab But it’s the same family of drugs as etanercept so may not be as successful and as I suffer extreme fatigue they then said barcitinib and I have just had my bloods done for this. I also take Mtx.

Perhaps you could contact rheumatology.they need to know how you are doing.

Perhaps they’ll offer you reassurance.

Or perhaps a change of medication.

Yes happened to me but chat to the doc for reasons why it's not helping xx
