I don’t know that it makes you any more susceptible to contracting the virus. What it does do, is make you more susceptible to a more series form of it / complications, if your vulnerable in any way.

Whilst RA is certainly seen S a vulnerability, I think the medicines we must take that suppress our immune systems increases that risk.

That is the theory, but at the moment there is no evidence that people with RA who are on immune suppressive drugs do get more severe forms of this virus or do have a higher mortality rate.

That said, until there is evidence, it would be stupid not to assume the worst and not take proper precautions.

But the fact that a couple of drugs used for RA are being tested as a treatment for the virus does make me thing that the answer to the question of whether we are more vulnerable may not be straightforward.

I think It's a difficult one to answer when we don't have all the information about this virus yet as to who and how this affects or makes vulnerable. I think in time once more is learned about this virus, it's transmission and how it affects the body and a vaccine or treatment is developed there will be more information and answers about who is more prone to getting it. As there have sadly been examples of healthy/ and or young people succumbing to this virus and older/and or people with underlying health conditions surviving and vice versa. That being said I think it is vital, necessary and important to protect ourselves and reduce any risk of getting it or indeed passing it on to another. At this moment in time we are dealing with the unknown and that is enough for me to say I know my health and body and I am taking myself out of the equation by shielding and reducing that risk.

Absolutely !!!! If you are taking immunosuppressants, your immune system is lowered, at a level, lower than your normal immune system’s ability to fight off infections.

Your dr should have educated you about the risk.

Be careful and stay safe !!
