Metaject (am I in the vulnerable category?)

Hello Warriors,

Can I ask a question If I am metaject for my RA and it has lowered my immune system.

Does that put me in the vulnerable category?

As I have not received a letter or text like some of my friends have saying they are in this vulnerable category.

Does that mean that I am not vulnerable?

Really appreciate your views on this as a bit confused!

Thank you

Marjie

I have Metoject, Enbrel and I also have Adrenal Insufficiency so take steroids every day just to stay alive, along with hypertension and other health issues but I haven’t received “the letter”. According to the flow charts, I should have received one and should be staying in for 12 weeks. So I’m staying in for 12 weeks, letter or no letter.

I haven’t received a letter and neither has my partner who is over 70 and has diabetes

I’ve worked it out for me from the flow chart from NRAS website that I should be shielding too

Hi there, there are lots of posts on this topic and a pinned post from Victoria from NRAS. It depends very much on the meds you take and any underlying conditions you may have, best check out the information for yourself rather than someone interpreting your situation. The NRAS website has lots of information too. Good luck.

It may well be that you just haven't received the letter yet as they're still coming out. However, it seems as if not all departments/health authorities/surgeries are using the same criteria which is confusing. According to the charts I've seen on here I'm in the social distancing category but yesterday I received the self-isolate letter.

Whether we receive the letter or not, my personal view is that we each need to do what is right for us personally as everyone's situation is different. So some will choose to self-isolate without the letter, others may interpret "self-isolate" slightly differently from the strict rules in the letter.

It's important that we all protect ourselves and others but also keep healthy mentally and that can mean different things to different people.

Entirely agree...we need to look at info and make our own decisions. After all in many cases if the letter doesn’t come from the rheumy it could just be that they may not know about all your other conditions. And on the other side you could get a letter, but live in such a way that it’s safe to relax the conditions.

Absolutely, myself and my Boss has RA, we take the same meds, no other conditions. His clinic in Derby has sent him a letter to shield my clinic in Stoke on Trent hasn't!

Strange.

That's interesting - I'm with the Derby clinic.... maybe they're erring on the side of caution?
