Matalow, I just assumed they paid privately for a test. I am disgusted that private clinics are hoarding test kits and charging those who can pay £300-400 depending on location/clinic, rather than hand over to frontline staff/nhs or at least make them available to nhs at cost price.

I have a clinic locally who advertised on FB offering Covid-19 testing at a reduced price of £299. It got quite an angry backlash. I offered to pledge £100 if they would at least make stocks available and set a go fund me page. I’m sure the nhs testing policy could be changed to include symptomatic/self isolating staff (if supplies are made available). so that they know one way or the other if they’re positive.

But who knows if the tests being offered are genuine?

I would only want to be tested if I was 100% certain the person doing the testing knew what they were doing....& the method used was proven.

Money and status talks........but it wont cure and doesn't afford immunity or immortality. The ugly side of this horrible situation we are all in.

As Pippy says, money talks. Government should confiscate these stocks and give them to the NHS to test the nurses and doctors and cleaners and porters on the frontline but I wouldn't hold your breath. 😖

Sad situation and one that needs to be changed swiftly. The private hospitals are now working with yhe NhHS but there's probably alot more they could do. I wonder why the big hotels that will now be sitting empty cannot be used as make shift hospitals of sort.

But the doctors in charge of patients in the private hospitals will be NHS doctors...they will be setting up the facilities.

Average private hospital do not have ICU facilities. If you have certain procedures in a private hospital ....it is explained to you before the procedure that if anything goes wrong ...you will be taken by ambulance to an NHS hospital with emergency facilities,

Hotels may possibly be available to accommodate recovering patients but they won’t have piped in oxygen ......the one vital thing ICU can provide to patients.

I agree that the government should test all frontline staff regardless but I still think all private stocks should be confiscated because I believe in times like these there should be a level playing field. Naive of me I know.

It Should first be approved if the tests are genuine. Look at all these onlinev tests for so-called allergies and food intolerances....a huge percentage of those ...when checked against genuine tests are rubbish.

Footballers will be tested privately, by the club doctor. Responsibility for testing front line staff lies with the NHS.

Nice to see the private sector helping out.. they could help by offering to test frontline staff who need testing. They may not be worth millions in£££ but in this time of crisis they are priceless
