Well having successfully making a recipe I found on here using rubbing alcohol and aloe vera in a 100 gr bottle I went for the big one. A litre! well I've got back from the local And E as the fumes were awful. But not dangerous as its not a poison. And the nurse asked for the recipe too. The headache was dreadful and the dizziness and nausea very worrying so off to A&E. In and out in 2 hours a record ! and a doctor who said done the right thing and what was the recipe again? The alcohol is in makeup, cleaning products and so many things so we use it most days anyway so not to worry at all.
So anyone trying this recipe do it in the open air and add the alcohol slowly to the aloe vera gel to emulsify as otherwise it doesn't mix with and becomes like string. My second batch is more like hand cream and does make the hands really soft too.
So now my husband is going to transfer into small bottles in the garden. And I put some food colouring in it too to make more attractive. A success and the benefit of much laughter in the A&E (first of many they thought) .

Nurse callled in doctor , I think they stopped short of laughing too loudly but did snigger. I have no doubt when I left it will appear on most stupid patient today.
Ahh yes, when I use it to clean my cacti I do it outside! I can imagine a litre of the stuff would be overwhelming..... drunk in charge of a bottle of hand gel!
We were out last night and I had a few mates say "you doing a Breaking Bad crystal meth next" and variations on that theme. I never saw myself as a dangerous subversive but needs must.
I might be on the BBC you never know, elderly'(ish )woman from Kent arrested in London for flogging home made high's and tea tree flavoured too. I'm not being blaze but think I must keep a sense of normality otherwise will go mad. Everything on the news is about the virus its like the world is ending and we are going wrapped in loo roll.
My hand sanitizer recipe also calls for aloe gel: 5 drops of essential oil to 2 ounces (60 cc's) of aloe gel, but I use filtered or distilled water instead, since I use it in a small spray bottle that I carry in my fanny pack. The essential oil can be lemon, peppermint, or whatever. I use thieves' oil (also called medieval elixir). I have also used a mixture of cassia, lavender, clove, and tea tree oil. I always use a bit more oil than is called for.
If someone sneezes near me, I spray it in the air between us (aimed toward myself, not the sneezer!).
If I feel I am getting a sore throat, I spray it in my mouth toward the back of my throat. Tastes bad, but makes my throat better.
Thieves oil sounds really interesting what is it? I like anything a little bit different. I'll have a go at this too, so did you use Aloe Vera gel or liquid.
