RA with new throat symptom

Hi all, I’ve had RA 13 years and now take benepali along with prednisolone. After being well controlled for 4 yrs it’s tapering off now and I’ve had several flares....I’m about to add in methotrexate...but for the last few weeks I’ve been even more tired than usual and I have pressure on me throat, as if I’m being strangled. I thought it was because of my weight but I’ve actually lost weight recently plus it is constant pressure, not just from lying down. I’m hoping to see GP if I can get an appt.....anyone any ideas? All I can think is it’s a thyroid issue...and it does look swollen...

Swollen gland or thyroid?

I would definitely ask you gp for a thyroid function blood test. Tiredness and tight throat are typical symptoms of underactive thyroid or goiter. Other symptoms include dry skin and low mood. RA and thyroid issues often appear together I think.

Thanks to both of you....my bloods are all normal, throat apparently inflamed but not sore, now on 3rd antibiotic in 2 months. GP sending me for ultrasound in 2 weeks to check thyroid but he thinks lipoma pressuring windpipe ??
