Good outcome

Had a wonderful experience today with my old clinic nurse.

I haven’t seen my head nurse since April as she was sent to a sister hospital that was in a bit of a mess and needed sorting out. After my allergic reaction this was my first appointment and I wasn’t expecting much to happen to be honest. How wrong was I. I wasn’t expecting to see this head nurse but in the past she had been the one to chase treatment and reviews. She listened to me and I said I couldn’t start biological treatment as my DAS score on last appointment was only 4.9 and I need to be over 5.1 even though I had tried 3 DMARDs and am allergic to 2 of them. She wasn’t impressed and said that she saw me several times earlier this year at my worst and had kept the photos of my swellings . If the Registrar had seen me on those days I would have qualified hands down. ( she’s not a fan of DAS as the chances of being seen by a consultant or registrar while at your worst is virtually impossible)My CRP results are up again and she said enough is enough and I can’t continue as I am she telephoned the consultant there and then and put across that it’s time we moved forward. Result is I start etanercept in 6 weeks .. such a relief that someone other than myself thinks this has gone on long enough. She is back for good and has said any problems from now on I email her direct ... SOOOO RELIEVED

This is the NHS at its best 😁

Its great when you get a good team behind you. My nurse and her assistant are great. I rang Tuesday and got her assistant and she listened to me through my tears. There was not a lot she could do for me as I am on all the meds I can have, but she did the most important she LISTENED which in my mind is so very important. Though she was just the nurses assistant she had empathy and though she couldn't help she made me feel brighter.xxx

Great news, what a treasure that nurse is. Best of luck with the biologic. She’s an asset to any hospital!

Thank you... I now realise how lucky I am ... I’ve told her she’s not aloud to go anywhere else 😁
