Has anyone just cold turkey stopped cimzia? Did you have any side effects or withdrawal type symptoms? Is it safe to stop all at once?
I can’t go see my doc and get a refill, and I also don’t think it’s working anymore (but am not sure bc my doc it terrible & wont order an antibody test).
If you can’t go to see your doctor, could you at least talk to him/her on the phone or by email? We don’t know your medical history and are not qualified to advise. Even if someone on here has stopped cold turkey and been fine that doesn’t mean that you should without discussing it with your medical team. Sorry, but you do really need to chase up your doc.
Right. I’ve left a voicemail w the nurse. I won’t go off it until hearing back from her. Am just curious what people’s experiences have been. I already quit another biologic (Humira) and didn’t have any issues/symptoms.
None of the RA drugs, apart from steroids, create dependancies like eg painkillers do. But there can be other issues.
Anyway, presumably you’ll need an alternative asap? So as well to let doctor know so you don’t have to wait. It would also be good to get your inflammation markers checked so you have a way of telling what happens when you stop. Not sure why you need an antibody test tho’?
I have had to miss the odd Cimzia dose due to infections and noticed no side effects. By the time the next dose was due I noticed a slight increase in my rheumatoid symptoms.
If you can’t speak to your rheumatologist ask your regular pharmacist... ....he will be able to advise you......we don’t have the necessary qualifications to help you.
