I don’t usually drink very much alcohol but am going to a special celebration tonight and it’s the day I take my methotrexate. I have never had an alcoholic drink on the day I take my meds. Is it ok to have a glass of wine tonight?? Not sure if this is a silly question!!!’

Hi, I accidentally had a big glass of wine on MTX day (just forgot 😒) and I was fine, but I suppose everyone would react differently according to their own constitution. You could take the MTX next day instead, I think that's ok to do.

No not a silly question. My understanding is if you can avoid alchol on methx day do as liver can struggle with both at same time. I would say drink plenty of water to dilute it. I don't have alchol within a couple of days of methx. NRAS suggest avoid it. See what others say, but I would say don't, but as JFlay said they were ok.

Thanks everyone. I’ve just taken my Methotrexate at lunchtime instead of evening and will drink plenty of water this afternoon. May be psychological but think a few extra hours before the glass of wine may help 😂. I will have a lovely evening as I’m with very special friends.

Do some liver cleansing tomorrow lots of greens water and beetroot shots. It worked for me as I was getting lots of recalls on my blood tests none since I do this one day before and one day after methotrexate dose and if I over do the drink on occasion 😋😜🥴

If you’ve got time just buy some from a health shop or amazon for the future you really need the highly concentrated stuff they are only little bottles taste not great 🥴have tried to make my own but yuk not a success

I usually avoid it if it’s on mtx day as the old liver works hard enough that day but you could miss a day and take it the next day aslong as you don’t have a bender ha ha xxx
