left prednisone at home!

So we are out of town for Independence Day (from US obviously). I forgot to pack my old dose pred and no pharmacies open. I’ve heard your adrenals shut down if you are on low dose pred for any length of time and I’ve been on it over a year. Not sure what to expect or do. Get home tomorrow late eve.

If I’ve understood you correctly then you’ll be about 18 hours late for your dose? So not that long....

The advice given for steroids talks about doses higher than 10mg for over 3 months as needing to be tapered slowly. What does are you on? As if higher than that perhaps you should ask at an emergency department?

I’ve been on 6 mg. For a month, trying to get off because I have osteoporosis, but as I said, i’ve Read that your adrenals will stop working with smaller doses and quitting suddenly is not good. So far I’m doing OK, just more pain in joints than usual.

As helix says, you are only late by a little, but if you are worried, you should go to an ED or ER, and ask in there for advice.

Adrenals stop working with higher doses, above 10mg, I think. Lower doses are much safer - which is logical.
