Hi everyone,does anyone suffer with pain in the ribs,high up under the chest?Just wonderingxx

Yes, I have rib pain and a hard throbbing pain on my left rib cage. It's not that uncommon in RD, called costochondriasis and can be quite alarming.

Hi Nellie, Yes I get pain in ribs on and off. It can be high up, low down or in the top middle. Like Mmrr says there are a lot of posts on this & a very detailed one about it just the other day.

Yes I do left side then right side. I had xrays antibiotics but was still there. It did go away but then a stabbing pain under my right rib came back so I tried to think back if it was muscular. I realised I strain sometimes getting heavy stuff out of cupboard or pulling vaccum so I think that I pull ligaments from that area. That’s my opinion. I just take my painkillers to help. X

If it’s on the right side, it could possibly be gall stones. I’d check with the GP and see what they say.

In my case, as with many others, it's cosochondritis. It's so common because the cartilage between the ribs and sternum can become inflamed as with any other joint. I find naproxen helps when it's particularly bad.

Always good to get any pain in the chest area checked out though...

Hi Valleylaydee,Thankyou for your reply,yes i’m Ringing my GP tomorrow.Cant take my anti-inflamatory tabs for a few days.Had a flare up of my Diverticulitis Friday,was quite sick.So I need to wait a few days.Lots of pain today.😭xx

Yes I get it so bad! As well as seeing the doctor for steroids my main help is something simple....ice packs!! Try it x

My daughter has RA - Ankylosing Spondilitis. When she was pregnant, she had bad rib pain. Not so much now. It’s been a few years since she was pregnant. She is also on Humira now too.

Yes ribs sore to touch... it never ends does it?

Hi Rosie,no it never ends,at the moment seems like something new each week.Got the pain in my shoulder blade the last couple of weeks as well.Thats all on top of all the other places😂Hope your ok.xx

Hello Nellie1965. Yes I used to get it so bad I would have to lay on the bed to ease it, but I Acidopholus extra 10. It takes a couple of weeks to kick in but thank goodness it does work. You will still get some discomfort some days but not often. They cost £17 for 2 months supply but believe me it's worth every penny. I don't know if I'm allowed put down the name of my supplier so I've left that out. But this company do the best ones as they are live good bacteria. Yes there are a lot of us on this site that have mentioned this same complaint. Hope this helps.Best Regards Suzanne.
