Hi it's to get your surrounding muscles strong and to try get you fitter for the op. The thinking is that you'll be able to support your recovering joint better if the rest of you is generally in good strong shape.
If it is just one class meeting, then it's so you can become relatively familiar with the methods used to rehabilitate your knee, so you can recover normal knee movement.
To learn the exercises you’ll need. I recovered quicker than expected because I did exercises regularly before and after
The better shape your muscles are in, the quicker and better you will recover. It's good practice to start before the op, then you're ready to recover beautifully straight after the surgery. I worked with physios; these people know what they're doing
All the above comments are very right and very important. Before I had my knee replaced I also joined a Gym and especially did knee strengthening exercises which all helped enormously with post operative recovery
I had a knee replacement last August. Well worth doing the exercises beforehand. As someone said it’s to strengthen your muscles in the leg. My suggestion would be do them as much as you can as it will most definitely help aid your recovery. Wishing you good luck for the op.
Thank u to everyone xx
