At least like Venus Williams, who reportedly has Sjogrens, she will have immediate access to the best clinical treatment available, which could let her continue to play.

As we all know early diagnosis & treatment is often key to continuing a career like playing tennis.

But at such a young age it must have been devastating for her.

Let's hope she is able to raise the profile of RA & doesn't let journalists perpetuate that it's OA of the creaky joints of a sportswoman.

The write up on the bbc website was good. Explaining all about RA. And ok I was lucky that I got diagnosed fast with treatment. Allowing me to continue playing golf

You were lucky...for years. I looked forward to retiring &'playing tennis in Florida.p & Spain.....had already joined a club & played as often as I could. Plan B was to play golf when I couldn't run around a tennis court.

I got diagnosed a couple of years after I retired, & despite quick treatment both here & in US...my wrists & arms were never quite up to it.So I bought a Kindle, learned to sit still on a sun lounger,& here I am gobbling up RTX, but I can walk & talk, so what's not to to like?

Looking back would get me nowhere

I saw that on the news this morning. I hope she gets the same treatment as us,but it won't as she is a famous tennis star and she will get the best treatment going. xxxx

It’s always not nice for a young person to be diagnosed with RA. In the piece on our ABC news site, she says that “she wants to be someone that people can look up to, and if she can do it, then so can they” - admirable sentiment, but she’s a well off elite athlete, therefore will get/can afford what ever treatment will be the best for her, and started from a position of extreme physical fitness. I’m glad she’s gone on to win another title recently, but I’m not sure that I want I’d want anyone saying to me that Caroline Wozniacki can do it, so you can too 🤣Wish her all the best anyways :)

I got to get back on the tennis courts a yr after diagnosed w RA at age 62. With the right Dr handling the pain and prescribing the correct meds I was only off the course for 10 mos.

That’s great Marsha. Never give up😉. And before others pile in😉. Yes I know it affects different people in different ways. I am one of the lucky ones that got diagnosed early and tolerated the drugs. Mtx, quinine, sulphasalazine. So I’m in ‘remission’ and can still lead a close to normal life.
