Sarah, the advice that I have received is to only use medically licenced manuka honey. Off-the-shelf honey might not have the active ingredients that licensed honey does contain.
Where do you buy this from Hawker. X
Amazon also medical grade Manuka honey. Xx
Hi Sarah
I’m from Australia. New Zealand has the best Manuka honey in the world. Nothing like the normal honey we eat. Australia has it too but I would definitely recommend buying from New Zealand and I think it’s all medicinal and organically grown too. Comes in different strengths, do a bit of research on what suits you. It’s quite expensive, more so depending on the strength but then you dont need to eat heaps of it.
Hope this helps. I can research if you need me too and seek out the best prices. The exchange rate should be favourable to,you as well.
Thank you. My reasearch says N.Z is the best , the higher the number the better the quality.

Lidl’s had reasonably priced one (about £6-8?) last time I was in there but don’t know if good stuff; said NZ . I know it’s pretty expensive usually x
Thank you.x
As you rightly say it's a minefield, a read of this may help manukanatural.com/blog/10-t.... Be prepared to spend quite a bit for proper manuka honey, especially those that contain MGO, the antibacterial property of the honey. The main things you need to look for on the label are the UMF certificate & the MGO content. We bought some proper manuka with both these from TK Maxx but you can't rely on them having it in stock all the time. I can't honestly remember how much we paid & the price label has worn but I do remember it was a considered purchase. We buy our olive oil from there too as they sometimes have the two olive types my h likes (Arbequina or Picual).
Hi my husband and i used t manage a laegw sheep and beef statkn jn new zealand. We encouraged our local bee keeper t put a lot of hives on our manuks forest and 6i know all thia jhòne6y was 4sold t marks and spencer it was genuine Manuka honey and is delicuus it is expensive BUT worth it.....enjjoy
Don`t believe the hype of the sales people for anything. Let me give you the lowdown on Honey . The stuff you normally buy in shops is honey, but, it is "blended" This means it has been heat treated to destroy most bacteria (good or bad),sieved to remove any pollen and bits . "Raw" Honey is totally different stuff altogether in texture and taste ,it is straight from the hive and depends on what the bees have visited at certain times of the year in their locality. Raw honey has nothing removed by any processing ,this is the stuff that was used to treat wounds for centuries because of it`s high sugar content which destroys bacteria. I suggest that you try both (small jars) to see which you prefer either blended or raw, For the raw contact the BBKA in the UK for a local beekeeper who will sell or even give you a sample and go from there. A jar of raw honey should set you back about £3-£5 maximum . As for "Medical grade honey" the mind boggles on what that really is although I suspect it has something to do with the sugar content compared to blended honey.
