Update on steroid injections :)

Thank you all for your encouraging replies to my previous post re Methylprednisolone injections.

Just to say I had the steroid jab last Thursday and I feel wonderful, almost back to normal and I can use my fingers and wrists for the first time in weeks. My joints are still a bit sore but absolutely no morning stiffness or stiffness after sitting. If it has affected my blood pressure I wouldn’t know, I haven’t checked as it would just worry me even more but I haven’t particularly noticed any side effects. It’s also a bit of a strange/upsetting feeling actually knowing that it’s a temporary reprieve and things will obviously regress as it wears off, but I have to admit I’m just enjoying and grateful for the hiatus.

Anyway, I’m off to the USA next week

and will begin Methotrexate on my return. The rheumatologist said I can go and have another injection next week to ‘top me up’ as although it could last 6-8 weeks there are no guarantees. This worried me but he said it would be fine, I checked with the nurse administering the injection and she also said no problem and that she sometimes gave new patients three doses a few days apart. Obviously they are the experts but I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this? It would mean only about 7-9 days between the two treatments :/ .

Never had them that close together but have had two joint injections on the same day. I would trust your rheumy if she says it's OK and then decide if you really need it or can you wait til you get back from hols?

Thanks for your reply Maggsie, i was going to have a joint injection into my hand but the general one has more or less sorted all of my joints out. My hands are back to normal, I feel as though I’ve had an illness and recovered then I remember it’s only temporary, I’m jut worried it may wear off as soon as I get there. Decisions!
