Hi been a long time since I was on this site. Was wondering if anyone else has had this. With recent good weather sitting in sun my legs have burst out in blood spots under the skin hundreds of them. I've had them on my torso for years now and a free on arms and feet but my legs look terrible with them. I have had RD for 14 years and also have chronic fatigue syndrome and fibro. Can someone she'd some light on this please

Blood spots look awful help
I they small, round and size of pencil eraser?
Hi digger1,
I too had this with the first bout of warm weather, although I wasn't sunbathing, just walking around all day.
My GP thought it was some form of vasculitis but didn't seem unduly worried or prescribe anything. Nearly all the spots have disappeared as mysteriously as they arrived, with the exception of one or two that scabbed.
Maybe worth a quick visit to your GP (if you can get an appointment!) to put your mind at rest?
They are very common! Not really anything to do with having Rheumatoid Disease but an annoying thing that happens to some people in hot weather. Walkers get them frequently and there is always a question about the condition in the walking magazines at this time of year as they get them all around the ankle and lower leg after walking in the heat.
I haven't found anyone who knows how to prevent them (apart from keeping cool!) and it seems to be due to the very small capillaries (small blood vessels) being fragile, getting dilated in the heat and bursting.
I found that using a cooling cream and draping my legs with cold water cloths made them more comfortable after they appeared but I've never found anything to prevent it.
