It means that you have tested a strong positive for an antibody in your blood called the rheumatoid factor. It is not a 100% certain test as many people without rheumatoid arthritis also test positive. However it makes it much more likely than not that you do have an inflammatory arthritis like rheumatoid arthritis.

On it's own it's not enough to make a firm diagnosis, but if you have other symptoms then your rheumatologist may well come to that conclusion.

Hi Omilla, I also have a high RF factor of 260 but no inflammation in my blood (ESD, CCP, etc., and no physical symptoms....pain in joints, swelling, etc., so.....it’s an indicator that you COULD develop inflammatory RA, in the future, or, if you do in fact have pain/swelling/ physical symptoms now, then you probably have active RA now and need to get on treatment. ( I, personally, have opted to avoid medication UNTIL I have some symptoms, IF they develop. as medications are pretty serious for RA). In the meantime, I take all sorts of anti-inflammatory supplements like curcumin Tumeric, Cannabic/CBD oil, fish oil and glucosamine to keep my inflammation away for as long as poss., and I cut out all inflammatory foods and started a strict workout schedule. I don’t know if that helps you at all. Anyway, use the internet and do your research. There’s TONS of info out there re meds, side effects, etc. : )
