Morning, what a weekend...

I had to stop taking mycophenolate mofetil last week, due to side effects (acutely sore joints and feeling yuch and not really working for me that well). Started on 40 mgs prednisilone daily until I see my rheumatologist in 3 weeks time. Had a flare up over the weekend.

I seem to be so intolerant of DMARDs, I still haven't had one that works and I can tolerate.

Hydroxychloroquine made me deaf and skin problems.

Sulfasalazine was fabulous, but I had to stop due to lung problems (rheumatologist won't give me mtx due to the lung problems)

What next ?

Have a look at the treatments pages on the NRAS website - an really good source of information about what's available.

I was diagnosed with RA and overlapping Lupus, so they won't let me try the tnf blockers (son has RA and the Remicade infusions have him back to 90% of previous activity). Just went off mycophenolate (didn't help much and gi side effects). Had tried Imuran (same issue), and methotrexate(worked great but couldn't tolerate). Just had my first auto-injection of Orencia....waiting to see if this helps - fingers crossed! Also on plaquenil, which has helped with the mouth sores and rashes but only helped the joints a little. On prednisone daily which helps the joints but I seem to become tolerant then keep needing a higher dose. Can't wait to get off for it gives me insomnia and always hungry. Was told Cytoxan would be another option.
