Hi guys would like your opinion went to see gp been struggling with back pain going into left kidney. In his opinion what I need to do is loose weight and exercise more. What I have to do is go on diet and throw away my walking sticks and that with improve my health conditions such as RA. Angina. Central sleep aponia. Chronic back pain. Epilepsy. Asthma etc etc etc good gp or what.

That is easier said than done. He could have had more sympathy than he showed you. You might want to consider seeing another dr about your back darling.xxxx

Totally agree seem to get more empathy from locums than our own gp he was just moaning at the cost of some medications that one of our grandaughters gets when she last seen her after she had been in hospital for the 5th time in a year with her breathing have been looking around for better gp near us

I think i would be looking at another dr to visit. If they are moaning about the cost of the meds well they should spend more time trying to find the root cause of her breathing problems instead of moaning.xx

Sounds like you have a GP who doesn't understand what RD is! Fine, the less weight we carry the better, that's stating the obvious but that's not so easy with the conditions your have. Coincidentally I also saw my GP last week, also because of back pain, but also foot pain. The occasional stick use seems to be long gone, it's generally in use unless I'm shopping & able to use a shopping trolley, walker-like. The difference between my GP & yours is she prescribed Oramorph for immediate relief & asked me to see her again in 3 weeks time to review my repeat pain meds. This is to determine if need to come off buprenorphine patches & rehash the complete group, the intention being that I'll just be prescribed from the one group. I'm blowed if I can remember which though as I was in just under half an hour & covered lots, but it's irrelevant, I'll find out at my next appointment.

If there's an alternative GP you could see Billy then I would, ask who would be the more appropriate if you have a few to choose from.

Definitely try and find another gp. Mine’s a lovely man. In the fourteen years since I was diagnosed with RD he has never once suggested I lose weight, although it’s obvious I do need to. In fact I’m starting with weight watchers on Friday, the incentive being that my son is getting married at the end of April and I’d love to be a bit thinner.

I know all they seem to go on about is the xost of medication given the choice I would prefer my health back rather than sticking needles in mw and the amount of meds im on
