Meant to say I take 15mg methotrexate by injections(due today) and 20mg leflunomine daily.x

Hi Tigger.

Can only tell you what my Rheumy nurse tells me. Any sign of a chest infection get to Gp as you may need anti biotics. Also stop Mtx until it's sorted. Got no knowledge of Leflunomide so not sure if it's implicated with chest conditions...Mtx certainly is.

When I picked up bug few weeks ago.I rang gp and was put on antibiotics and told not to take my methotrexate.when contacted my nurse she rang me and said not to take mxt until 3 days after antibiotics had finished but if I still not 100 per cent to still not take them.I was off my methotrexate 3 weeks.she said if your not well you don’t take it..

I take mxt 20mg injection weekly. Diagnosed 2 years ago but still finding the right combination of RA meds.

I had a persistent productive cough for many months. Went to gp several times chest was clear went back a month later. Chest clear then I cough while I was there. Said do CXR and 5 day course antibiotics. Cough slightly better so Back to gp again they looked at the X-ray and said lymph nodes looked swollen although I had chest X-ray for Rhuematology nil seen.

Gp said do a sputum test which showed a bacterial infection. Another weeks dose of 2 lots of antibiotics.

Rhuematology asked for a 2nd sputum test as the X-ray I had for them was clear. Sputum came back with a bacterial infection again. Different type of antibiotics for 1 week. Cough better but continue to cough.

Rhuematology referred for a respiratory review and several tests later Im told I have bronchiectasis. Long term lung condition.

Sorry for the long story as what I’m saying to persevere with doctors as each time my chest was clear. So may have this for more than a year.
